Official: BMW Electric M Tech Revealed – Quad Motors, 800V & 100kWh Battery

Recently, BMW officially released a “spoiler” regarding the technology of its future pure electric M family.

Specifically, the new models will utilize the Neue Klasse platform. Consequently, BMW aims to elevate the driving experience to unprecedented heights, integrating track-level dynamic performance into daily use.

800V Architecture and “Heart of Joy”

Technically, the new car will feature an 800V high-voltage architecture. This allows for longer range, faster charging, and highly efficient energy recovery, making the car a perfect companion for daily life.

Furthermore, BMW introduced a forward-looking central control domain and electronic architecture. They call this high-performance computer the “Heart of Joy.” Impressively, it integrates key systems like power, braking, steering, and energy recovery, compressing the response time to within milliseconds.

Quad Motors: The Strongest M Drive Ever

Regarding the powertrain, the new car will equip one drive motor for each wheel. Therefore, this quad-motor setup ensures optimal traction.

Moreover, this configuration combines the advantages of rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, enhancing the experience on both roads and tracks. Interestingly, the vehicle can also achieve full rear-wheel drive mode to guarantee greater range when needed.

In addition, the car introduces a simulated gear shifting mode. Drivers can enjoy multiple preset driving modes and exclusive sounds created specifically for the new generation M. With an ultra-high power density design, the BMW M eDrive unit stands as the strongest drive system in BMW M history.

Battery and Sustainability

Under the floor, the new car carries a 100kWh battery pack. Specifically, it uses Gen6 cylindrical batteries, which bring lower internal resistance and higher power density. Notably, this is an M-exclusive battery pack.

Finally, on the environmental level, the new car introduces Bcomp natural fiber materials. These materials ensure strength and lightweight performance while reducing carbon emissions by 40%.
