BYD has just launched the 2026 Song Pro DM-i, a major update to its flagship model in the new energy compact SUV market. The new vehicle is available in three trim levels, with an official price range of 102,800 to 125,800 RMB. For a limited time, a “Super Trade-in” subsidy drops the price to an aggressive 99,800 to 122,800 RMB.

As an annual refresh, the new model focuses on optimizing the cabin, suspension, fuel efficiency, and other details. The CLTC pure electric range has been increased to 133 kilometers, further enhancing its product strength. This model is a massive success, with BYD selling 133,919 units in the first half of the year alone.

Exterior Tweaks and a New Color
The exterior of the Song Pro DM-i is already very familiar, with its family design language giving it high product recognition. For 2026, it gains a new active grille shutter. This feature has a positive effect on both rapid engine warm-up and reducing wind resistance.
While the rest of the classic design remains, it continues to be a strong competitor in its class. The new model also adds a new “Ice-Jade Green” exterior color.

Major Interior & Tech Upgrades
The changes inside the car are more significant than the exterior. The modern, minimalist interior style, which debuted on the 2025 model, continues. It features an 8.8-inch LCD instrument panel and a large 12.8-inch or 15.6-inch main screen running BYD’s DiLink 100 smart car system.
The biggest change is the redesigned center console. The 2026 model uses a new column-mounted gear selector. This change frees up significant space. Below the air vents, there is now a 50W wireless phone charging pad. Behind it, a simplified row of high-frequency physical buttons remains for key functions like drive mode, auto-park, EV/HEV toggle, and front windshield defrost.
The smart cockpit also features a wealth of entertainment functions, such as mic-less karaoke, a game center, and more. It also supports seamless phone-to-car integration and smart anti-motion sickness functions.

Performance and Efficiency
The new model will continue to use the familiar 1.5L plug-in hybrid system. The engine has a power of 74 kW and the electric motor has a power of 120 kW. The CLTC pure electric range has been increased to 133 km. This longer range will reduce the frequency of charging and adapt to more usage scenarios. The NEDC charge-depleted fuel consumption is an impressive 3.2L/100km. The chassis is equipped with a front MacPherson strut and a rear multi-link independent suspension.

Market Context and Competition
The Song Pro has always been BYD’s trump card in the compact SUV market. Its strong product power and reasonable pricing have led to excellent sales. This new model is a targeted upgrade. It adopts the Dynasty family’s latest design and adds a longer-range version to stay ahead.
However, competition is getting tougher. Competitors like the popular Leapmotor B10 and Galaxy Starship 7 have a high degree of overlap in price. The Leapmotor B10, for example, offers LiDAR for just over 120,000 RMB. The Galaxy Starship 7 is also a direct competitor with similar pricing and specs. While the BYD Song Pro DM-i still has strong brand recognition, the market battle will only become more intense.
