We recently obtained the official declaration information from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) for the new BYD Yuan PLUS 230kW High-Power Edition. This compact all-electric SUV will make waves thanks to its huge performance upgrade and the advanced e-Platform 3.0 technology underpinning it.
A Jolt of Power and Platform Upgrade
The most significant change in this new version lies under the floor. The new Yuan PLUS comes equipped with a powerful electric motor, delivering a maximum power output of 230kW! This is a substantial increase compared to the current model’s 150kW, marking a critical step up in dynamic capability.
Nanjing BYD Auto Co., Ltd. produces the permanent magnet synchronous motor (Model: TZ200XYC). It has a rated power of 70kW and allows the vehicle to reach a top speed of 180 km/h. This motor—often seen in RWD applications—and the relocated charging port strongly suggest a transition to a new 800V architecture utilizing SiC (Silicon Carbide) power electronics. Design, Practicality, and Structure
On the outside, the Yuan PLUS High-Power Edition largely retains the existing model’s design language. It presents a compact, full-bodied look that is undeniably dynamic. The exterior dimensions remain practical for urban life and family use: 4455mm (Length), 1875mm (Width), 1615mm (Height), with a spacious 2720mm wheelbase.
A small but noteworthy practical update: BYD moved the charging port from the front fender to the rear. This change could offer improved convenience in various charging scenarios.
Crucially, the Yuan PLUS is built on BYD’s dedicated e-Platform 3.0, which incorporates the ultra-safe Blade Battery as a structural component to enhance chassis rigidity. BYD offers a range of tire specifications, including 215/55R18 and 235/50R18, catering to different performance needs.
