Official Spy Shots Released: The ID.ERA Production Model

Recently, Ralf Brandstätter, Chairman and CEO of Volkswagen Group China, released camouflaged real-car photos of the ID.ERA mass-production version on social media.

Brandstätter stated that the production model closely resembles the concept car. After driving the real vehicle, he described it as “very smart, very reliable, very easy to drive, and very Volkswagen.” The production model will officially debut in 2026. Previously, official forecasts indicated that the new car would start production in April, and we cannot rule out a debut during the Beijing Auto Show next year.

Exterior Design: Smart and Robust

From the exterior, the ID.ERA production model shares a nearly identical silhouette and lines with the concept car.

• Front Profile: The entire front end looks thick and full, adopting a split headlight design. The upper part features a continuous daytime running light strip plus the Volkswagen brand’s illuminated LOGO. On the lower left and right sides sit the LED headlights. We can also see active air intake grilles on the lower part of the new car.
• Sensors: The top of the front end features LiDAR technology.
• Side Profile: On the body side, the new car adopts a floating roof design. The roof sports luggage rails, while both side doors provide hidden door handles and brand-new multi-spoke rims.

The ID.ERA production version functions as an Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) SUV, boasting a comprehensive range exceeding 1000km+.
