Huge Interior Overhaul! New Hongqi HQ9 Spy Shots Reveal “Startup-Style” Cockpit

Recently, we obtained a set of test spy shots for the new Hongqi HQ9 from relevant channels.

Notably, while the exterior of the car remains consistent with the current model, the interior has undergone obvious changes. Consequently, the overall style feels more “home-like” and resembles the work of a “New Force” (startup) brand.

Exterior: Classic and Grand

Specifically, the new car shows almost no camouflage. It continues the styling of the current model entirely.

  • Design: The massive straight waterfall grille and the flying-wing LED daytime running lights remain.
  • Rear: The rear of the vehicle features a large spoiler.
  • Dimensions: We expect the body size to remain consistent with the current model: 5222mm (L) / 2005mm (W) / 1935mm (H), with a wheelbase of 3200mm.

Interior: “Earth-Shaking” Changes

In terms of the interior, the new car has undergone “earth-shaking” changes.

  • Screens: Most notably, the dual-screen design (center screen + passenger screen) grabs attention immediately. Furthermore, the interface UI looks very similar to the Hongqi Tiangong series, suggesting a significant upgrade in intelligence.
  • Gear Shift: In addition, we can see that the new car adopts a column shifter design, freeing up space in the center.
  • Center Console: The center island area offers two mobile phone wireless charging panels. Interestingly, the “Qi Guan Chang Hong” (Red Flag strip) Logo separates them, which creates a very distinctive brand characteristic.

Powertrain: ICE and PHEV Options

Technically, regarding power, we reference the current model. The Hongqi HQ9 provides both Gasoline (ICE) and Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) versions.

  1. ICE Version: Equipped with a 2.0T engine, delivering a maximum power of 185 kW.
  2. PHEV Version: Adopts a combination of a 2.0T engine and dual motors. Consequently, the system’s combined maximum power reaches 300 kW, with a pure electric range of 73km (WLTC).
