Official: All-New BMW iX3 LWB Debuts April 2026 – 900km Range & 800V Tech

On January 21, we learned from official BMW sources that the all-new BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase (mid-sized SUV) will complete its debut at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show in April. Subsequently, the market launch will follow in the second half of the year.

According to previous reports, the new car will feature highly localized technology. Specifically, it will integrate Momenta’s full-scenario navigation driving assistance (covering highways and urban roads) and introduce customized Large Language Model (LLM) technology developed jointly with Alibaba.

Exterior: Inspired by Vision Neue Klasse X

Visually, the car draws inspiration from the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X concept car.

  • Front Face: The details echo the classic BMW 1500. Notably, the classic double kidney grille transforms from the old chrome style into what officials call “Angel Wings,” giving it extremely strong visual recognition.
  • Rear Design: The rear does not use a through-type taillight. Instead, the central depression highly resembles the front face design of BMW M models. Furthermore, the diffuser area features angular sculpting to highlight sportiness and improve aerodynamics.
  • Dimensions: The standard dimensions are 4780/1895/1635mm, with a wheelbase of 2895mm. However, for the future domestic version, engineers are expected to extend the wheelbase by 100mm to improve rear passenger space. Consequently, the rear seat cushions will also be lengthened.

Interior: The Panoramic Vision Bridge

Inside, the new BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase will introduce the BMW Panoramic Vision Bridge. This concept allows the driver to acquire information sequentially from the 3D Head-Up Display, the Horizon Panoramic Display, and the central screen.

Technically, the Horizon Panoramic Display uses ultra-short-throw projection technology. This creates a projection of nearly 40 inches with 4K resolution and a contrast ratio of 100,000:1 on the bottom of the windshield. Moreover, thanks to a patented nano-coating, drivers can see the information clearly even when wearing polarized sunglasses.

Regarding the central screen, it adopts a unique, non-rectangular design. This shape helps place essential information within easy reach, while less frequently used data sits behind the steering wheel rim.

Intelligence: DeepSeek AI and Huawei Ecosystem

On the intelligence level, the BMW iX3 LWB is a powerhouse.

Powertrain: 900km Range and 800V Platform

Technically, the new car integrates the sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology and is built on an 800V platform.

  • Battery: It carries a 108kWh large cylindrical battery.
  • Motors: The system uses a front asynchronous motor and a rear excited synchronous motor.
  • Performance: The maximum power is 345kW, peak torque is 645 Nm, and 0-100km/h acceleration takes just 4.9 seconds.
  • Range: Impressively, the CLTC pure electric range reaches 900 km.
  • Efficiency: The official power consumption is 15.1kWh/100km.
  • Charging: Just 10 minutes of charging can replenish 427 km of range.
