Official Pre-Sale: BYD Song Ultra EV Features 710km Range and 2nd Gen Blade Battery
Recently, BYD officially started the pre-sale for the Song Ultra EV. The company plans to release four distinct models. Furthermore, buyers can expect the official market launch in late March. Specifically, this new mid-size SUV features the second-generation Blade Battery. Additionally, it offers advanced flash charging and an optional LiDAR system.
Exterior and Dimensions
Visually, the BYD Song Ultra EV focuses heavily on spatial practicality. It stands taller than previous models. Consequently, the cabin offers massive interior space.
Regarding design, the front adopts the signature family style. Notably, dual LED headlights merge seamlessly with the grille. Moreover, the sporty front bumper features striking black air ducts.
In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4850/1910/1670mm. It boasts a wheelbase of 2840mm. Moving to the side, a dynamic waistline spans the entire body. Furthermore, the car utilizes new flush door handles. This design reduces aerodynamic drag. Finally, the rear features through-type taillights with traditional Chinese knot elements. Buyers can choose from six exterior colors.
Interior and Smart Tech
Inside the cabin, BYD offers two interior color schemes. The center console uses high-gloss black materials. Additionally, dynamic ambient lighting enhances the atmosphere.
Technologically, the dashboard features a standard 15.6-inch floating screen. This system supports a rich app ecosystem and voice interaction. Furthermore, the new steering wheel pairs with an electronic column shifter. This setup frees up console space for dual wireless charging pads.
For comfort, the front seats provide ventilation, heating, and massage functions. It even includes a special passenger seat. Importantly, the front trunk supports a convenient knock-to-unlock feature.
Advanced Driving Assistance
Technologically, high-end models offer an optional LiDAR system. The vehicle packs 27 sensors in total. Specifically, it utilizes the Eye of the Gods 5.0 system.
In practice, this system easily navigates extreme narrow alleys. When facing complex U-turns, the system smoothly switches between forward and reverse. Moreover, it actively switches to side roads during urban traffic jams.
Powertrain and Flash Charging
Regarding power, all models use a single-motor setup. They produce maximum power outputs of 240 kW and 270 kW. Therefore, the CLTC pure electric range reaches 620km and 710km.
Most importantly, the car equips the Second-Generation Blade Battery. This battery delivers higher energy density and stricter safety standards. Furthermore, it features BYD’s flash charging technology.
Specifically, charging from 10% to 70% takes only 5 minutes. A 10% to 97% charge takes just 9 minutes. Even in extreme cold, charging takes only 3 extra minutes. Finally, the DiSus-C intelligent damping system comes as standard.
