You can’t deny the design is a head-turner. The fastback shape and frameless doors feel premium. I love the “click” of the windows lowering slightly when the doors unlock—it’s a great sense of occasion. The taillights have a flowing animation at night that definitely gets more looks than my old sedan.

Inside, the 15.6-inch screen is fluid, and voice control for navigation and music works perfectly.

If I had to find flaws, they’re minor. The frameless doors, while beautiful, do create some noticeable wind noise at high speeds (nothing a little music can’t cover). And the large glass canopy roof, while offering amazing views, can’t be opened and gets hot after baking in the sun. I installed an insulating film which helped, but a physical sunshade would have been a perfect addition.

The Final Verdict: The Ideal Family Commuter

Switching from gas to electric has been a relief. My monthly running costs have been cut by more than two-thirds. After three months, the BYD Song L feels like a reliable partner. It’s well-balanced in every category: the range is solid, the space is ample, and the tech is genuinely useful.

For an ordinary office worker like me, it’s the ideal ride—it saves money and saves worry.
