We learned from officials that Volvo’s Taizhou factory has reached a major milestone. The 500,000th vehicle has officially rolled off the assembly line. The milestone car was a new Volvo XC70.

This model just launched on September 26th. Its official price is 416,900 – 496,900 RMB. However, a limited-time “Reference Enjoyment Price” dramatically cuts this to 269,900 – 349,900 RMB.

Design and Dimensions

The Volvo XC70 is the first model built on the new SMA super hybrid architecture. It continues the brand’s well-known family design language. The signature “Thor’s Hammer” headlights, for example, feature advanced matrix LED technology. This system provides functions like active high beams and adaptive steering.

The vehicle’s dimensions are 4815mm long, 1890mm wide, and 1650mm tall, with a 2895mm wheelbase.

High-Tech Interior

Inside, the new car features a stunning three-screen setup. This includes a 15.4-inch high-resolution center touchscreen, a 12.3-inch instrument display, and a massive 92-inch AR-HUD (Head-Up Display).

It is also equipped with 24 intelligent sensors. These sensors power advanced driver-assistance (ADAS) features like smart parking and the NPA (Navigate on Pilot Assist) system.

Two Advanced PHEV Powertrains

The Volvo XC70 offers a plug-in hybrid system. It pairs a 1.5T engine (120kW) with a 3DHT hybrid-specific transmission. Buyers have two distinct options:

  • Single-Motor Version:
    • Power: 107kW electric motor (234kW total system power).
    • Battery: 21.1 kWh LFP battery.
    • Range: 116 km CLTC pure electric range.
    • Performance: 0-100 km/h in 8.0 seconds.
  • Tri-Motor Version (P1+P2+P4):
    • Power: 340kW total system power.
    • Battery: 39.6 kWh ternary lithium battery.
    • Range: 212 km CLTC pure electric range and over 1,200 km total range.
