2026 Beijing Auto Show: New BYD Seagull Debuts with LiDAR, Dual Wipers, and Interior Tweaks
During the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, the 2026 BYD Seagull made a low-profile appearance. From the live display, it is clear that the vehicle will now offer optional LiDAR. Furthermore, several details in the exterior and interior have been adjusted. Previously, some dealers suggested that the maximum range would increase from 405km to 505km, though this has not yet been officially confirmed. Given its official debut at the show, we expect the new model to launch very soon.
Exterior: Subtle Refinements and Hardware Upgrades
Visually, the overall styling of the new Seagull remains largely unchanged. The show car features a new Orange-Red paint job and 16-inch alloy wheels, though the tire specifications remain at 175/55 R16.
Most notably, a LiDAR sensor is now visible on the roof. Consequently, this model will be equipped with the “God’s Eye” (Tianhen Zhiyan) B-level intelligent driving assistance system. Additionally, camera modules similar to the current Freedom Edition are visible on the front fenders, along with a blue indicator light at the rear. Notably, the front wiper system has been upgraded from a single blade to a dual-wiper setup.
Interior: Detail-Oriented Adjustments
Inside the cabin, the design remains consistent with the current model, with changes limited to the details.
For instance, the buttons on the steering wheel have been streamlined. The Intelligent Driving version will also include dedicated paddles. Furthermore, the buttons on the center console are now color-matched to the interior. Regarding convenience, the wireless fast charging has been upgraded to 50W, the cup holder has been adjusted to a single slot, and a new top-opening armrest box has been added.
Performance: Power Boost and Range Expectations
In terms of performance, according to previous declaration information, the maximum power of the motor has been increased to 60kW.
Currently, the Seagull offers range versions of 305km and 405km. However, dealers indicate that the high-end version’s CLTC range will be upgraded from 405km to 505km. Ultimately, we will wait for official news to confirm these figures and will keep you updated.
