Official: BYD Atto 3 Evo Debuts with 800V Architecture & AWD

Recently, BYD officially released images of the new Yuan PLUS overseas version. Specifically, the company renamed this mid-cycle facelift the BYD Atto 3 Evo for international markets.

Furthermore, this model introduces massive upgrades compared to the current generation. It now features an advanced 800V high-voltage architecture. Additionally, buyers can choose between Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and All-Wheel Drive (AWD) configurations. Engineers also upgraded the exterior, interior, and chassis.

Exterior Updates: A New Frunk

Visually, the new car largely maintains the current model’s design language. However, designers made a very noticeable change. They moved the charging port to the rear fender.

Consequently, this shift created space under the front hood for a new 101-liter front trunk (frunk). This addition greatly enhances daily practicality. Meanwhile, the body dimensions remain completely unchanged. The car measures 4455/1875/1615mm in length, width, and height. Also, it retains its 2720mm wheelbase.

Interior Updates: More Space and Tech

Inside the cabin, the most obvious modification involves the gear selector. The new car adopts an electronic column shifter. (The previous overseas version used a traditional center console shifter).

Therefore, the front center console now provides a clean layout with a convenient wireless charging pad for smartphones. Moreover, BYD expanded the rear trunk volume to 490 liters. The dashboard still combines an 8.8-inch LCD instrument panel with a 15.6-inch central screen. Fortunately, we expect BYD to equip it with the absolute latest entertainment system.

Powertrain and Chassis: A Massive Leap

The powertrain receives the most significant upgrades.

First, the new 800V architecture allows for ultra-fast charging. The battery can charge from 10% to 80% in just 25 minutes. Second, the performance figures are incredibly impressive:

• RWD Version: The rear motor delivers 312 horsepower and 380 N·m of peak torque. As a result, it accelerates from 0-100km/h in just 5.5 seconds.
• AWD Version: The dual-motor setup generates a combined 449 horsepower and 560 N·m of torque. Impressively, it sprints from 0-100km/h in a mere 3.9 seconds.

Finally, BYD increased the battery capacity to 74.8kWh. This achieves a maximum driving range of 510km. To handle this extra power, engineers upgraded the car to a five-link independent rear suspension. This change will significantly improve the overall ride quality and handling.
